A pesar de que al principio creía que Britney era una víctima de su propia sobreexposición, Simon cree ahora que ella está manejando su aparición en la prensa: “Al principio me sentía mal por ella, pensaba que tenía alguna crisis y que todo estaba fuera de control pero, especialmente después de la semana pasada - creo que ella lo tiene todo controlado y, es más, quiere tenerlo todo controlado. Simon Cowell is on to Britney Spears. In an exclusive interview with PageSix.com, the razor-tongued American Idol judge reveals that while most of the country thinks Brit has gone batty, he’s convinced the pop singer knows exactly what she’s doing.

“Everyone thinks it’s breakdown this and breakdown that,” Simon says. But he isn’t buying it. “From the kind of stunts she’s pulling now, I think she is the puppet master and completely in control.”

Though at first he thought that she was a victim of her own overexposure, he now believes that she’s masterminding her press coverage. “I really felt for her at one point, I thought she was heading for a meltdown and everything was out of control, but — especially over the past week — I thought she was honestly in control and, more to the point, wants to be in control.”

Case in point, last Monday’s shenanigans which found the 26-year-old arriving at court for her child custody hearing only to bail out. Twice.

“You don’t walk into a church surrounded by the media the day you’re supposed to be in court fighting for your kids just so that you’ve got another picture unless you are totally aware of what you are doing,” he says, “and in my opinion Britney is.”
So is there any hope that America’s biggest trainwreck can get back on track? “Britney just needs to lie low for a bit and make a good record,” he advises.

Britney lie low, is that possible?

“If you don’t want to get any press attention, just keep your head down, don’t drive yourself anywhere and sit in the back of blacked-out limousine,” Simon says. “But if she thinks she knows what she is doing, then good luck to her.”

And that may be Brit’s most shocking feat yet — turning the world’s biggest cynic into an optimist!
